Ashtanga Yoga >>>>> complimented with live drumming.
The purpose for Ashtanga Yoga & Drumming is to establish a pulse 'a drum pulse' in the yoga space to help infuse our practice with a pattern/rhythm/ beat that the heart beat and breath can synchronise with. Ashtanga to the beat of the drum can help develop Steadiness & Ease (GROUNDING) at a deeper level to help with cultivating heat and awareness as well as rhythmical breath-work.
This practice is a sacred tool for the development of deep and steady 'ujjayi breathing' co-ordinated with the uplifting energy of the Vinyasa Method of Ashtanga. As we explore practicing the “deep sound of the breath'= Ujjayi Breathing” at the back of the throat we will be working with the beat of the drum that will guide the pace of the practice.
The magic of the Drum and its relation to Mother Earth's heartbeat moves one's consciousness into the inner worlds of vision, experience, and learning. The Drum takes us to that special place (higher awareness) that can help us connect with the vibration of our cellular tissue and invite transformation and change to support our overall wellness.
Date: Sunday 7th August.
Cost: $25 per person.
Teacher: Frances Paderno
Drummer: Alain Pierre Babin
Location: Lazuli -Hepburn Springs
ABOUT THE PRACTICE:
We will be practicing the half Primary Series (up to Navasana). The session will be organised into chapters/sections, (Surya Namaskara A & B, Standing, Seated, Backbends, Shoulder-stands, Headstands, Savasana & Meditation guided by drumming. The class will be led according to the traditional Ashtanga count that we have been using during weekly practice, however for this Sunday the vinyasa count and postural flow will be supported by the drum which represents the Earth= sthira (steadiness- ) and Rhythmic calmness =sukham (ease) whist learning to Feel & Listen. The drum can simulate the Earth's heartbeat in your Yogic Field (Field of AWARENESS). Yogis refer to this field as THE UNIFIED FIELD).
I hope you are able to join us.
